Ahoskie falls in title game

WILLIAMSTON – Williamston took a 16-0 win in the championship game of the Senior Little League District Tournament here Saturday night.

The Williamston club stopped Ahoskie, a team that fell into the loser’s bracket and battled back to win three games and make it back to the championship game.

Matt Perry hit three homeruns for Williamston and drove in seven runs to lead his team to victory.

Williamston cored two runs in the top of the first to take an early lead.

In the bottom of the first, Cade Larabee singled to right just before Patrick Dilday drew a walk. The threat ended on a groundout.

Williamston then scored one in the second, seven in the third and six in the fourth to end the game.

Tyler Pryor started on the mound and pitched two and one-third innings. Marvin Harrell and Miles Harrell also pitched during the game.

&uot;I am proud of the team,&uot; Ahoskie head coach Nathan Dilday said. &uot;We got to the championship game, which is a great accomplishment.

&uot;We battled in every game as three of our four wins were in the last inning,&uot; Dilday added.
