JACKSON – A Jackson man is behind bars for a crime committed Independence Day.

Captain D.M. Harmon of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) arrested Stanley Lewis Jackson of 2578 Pleasant Grove Road in Jackson and placed him in the Northampton County Jail on three felony counts.

Those charges stemmed from a July 4 incident involving a vehicle stopped in the Weldon City limits.

According to Harmon, Weldon Police Chief Greg Parker stopped a vehicle July 4 and found guns inside. Information obtained from one of the suspects led him to believe they were taken from a residence in Jackson.

Chief Parker then contacted the NCSO and Deputy Buford White met Parker at the residence where they confirmed it had been broken into. The owner of the property was not at home at the time but later confirmed the items were taken from his home.

Captain Harmon was then contacted and began his investigation.

After investigating, he found three guns had been taken from the residence as well as money and a gold watch.

&uot;The items that were missing matched the items found in the vehicle, with the exception of the watch which was never found,&uot; Harmon said.

The Detective then got a warrant and arrested Jackson on charges of felony breaking and entering, felony larceny and felony possession of stolen property.

Jackson was placed under a $5,000 secured bond and had his first appearance Monday.
