WILLIAMSTON – Patrick Dilday led way to victory here Tuesday night.

The Ahoskie Senior Little League All-Star pitched a four-hitter and added a three-run, game-winning homer to help Ahoskie stop Edenton 4-1 in the first round of the All-Star Tournament.

With the scored tied at 1-all in the top of the sixth, Dilday’s heroics were just moments away.

Miles Harrell walked and went to third on a Chase Riddick single. Riddick advanced to second on the play.

Dilday then delivered a three-run shot to right-centerfield to help Ahoskie grab a 4-1 advantage from which they never looked back.

In the bottom of the sixth, Ahoskie ended the game with a double play.

The local squad had garnered an early lead in the contest, scoring one run in the top of the third.

Tyler Burden walked and went to third when Harrell reached on an error. Burden then scored on a Chase Riddick RBI-single on the infield to give Ahoskie a 1-0 lead.

Edenton’s only run came in the bottom of the fourth frame.

Dilday went all six innings for Ahoskie to pick up the win. He allowed one run on four hits and struck out six.

Riddick led Ahoskie offensively as he had two of the team’s three hits.

Ahoskie played in a second round winner’s bracket game last night (Wednesday) in a game that ended too late for press time.
