Ahoskie Stars fall

JAMESVILLE – Ahoskie 9-10 year olds lost an elimination game in the District Seven All Star Tournament here Tuesday night against Plymouth by a score of 14-11.

Ahoskie could not survive after giving up a seven run third inning, but made a valiant effort only to fall short after their own three run 6th inning.

Bobby Merritt led Ahoskie with four hits in the game including two doubles and a triple.

Matthew Judge and Jordan Harrell had two hits each, with Harrell’s last being a triple in the 6th inning, accompanied by a Landon Larabee home run.

Brandon Terry, Brandon Owens and Patrick Kirby each had one hit in the game.

Owens was the starting pitcher for Ahoskie and pitched the first two innings.

He was followed by Woody Lowe, Larabee and Kirby who each pitched an inning of relief.

Head coach Pat Kirby thanked the players at the end of the game for an outstanding effort during the game and the practices leading up to the tournament.
