Husband, wife file for office

JACKSON – If two Seaboard residents each have their political aspirations filled, family could be the name of the game.

Michael and Ann Marie Procino, a husband and wife, each filed on Tuesday for the office of commissioner in the town of Seaboard during municipal filings in Northampton County.

The Procino’s were the first candidates to file for that office in the northern Northampton County town. The only other filing in Seaboard came Friday when incumbent mayor Melvin F. Broadnax opted to seek his twelfth term in the post.

Also filing as a challenger Tuesday was Joseph &uot;Joe&uot; Blythe. He filed in the race for Commissioner in Woodland. There are four seats on the ballot for November’s election.

Another challenger, Fred W. Harper filed for a seat on the Jackson Town Board on Thursday while incumbent Harold L. Garris filed for the Severn board on Friday.

Hertford County’s filings have grown moderately since Friday’s opening day.

Nettie Brickers, an incumbent, has filed for the Cofield Town Council. She filed Tuesday.

Wednesday morning, incumbent Winton Town Councilman Wesley Liverman filed to keep his seat on that board.

Friday morning saw two people file for the municipal elections.

Linda L. Blackburn filed for her second term as mayor of Ahoskie while newcomer Kevin Higbee will seek a seat on the Como Town Council

In Bertie County, two candidates have filed for election since the opening day.

Incumbent Lewiston-Woodville Councilman Eddie Graham filed to keep his seat in the Woodville District while challenger Roberta &uot;Robin&uot; Bland filed for a seat on the Aulander Town Council.

The following is a list of those who have filed in Northampton County through 12 noon on Friday.
