HILL – The final standings for the 2004-2005 Wachovia Cup have been released.

Results in the Roanoke-Chowan area were mixed.

Two local schools finished well out of contention in the standings for the Northeastern Coastal 2-A/3-A Conference.

Hertford County finished sixth and Bertie eighth in the final standings for the Cup in the league. First Flight won the Wachovia Cup in its first each of existence.

The 1-A ranks saw Gates County come in fifth in the Four Rivers 1-A Conference. Williamston won the Four River with Northside finishing a distance second.

Northampton County High School – East moved up to fourth in the Tar-Roanoke Conference standings, finishing behind Franklinton, Durham School of the Arts and Louisburg.

County rival Northampton-West finished seventh just ahead of Rocky Mount Prep.

The Wachovia Conference Cup, sponsored annually by Wachovia and sanctioned by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, recognizes high school sports programs that achieve the best overall performance within their respective athletic conferences. Wachovia has sponsored a conference awards program since 1980.
