JACKSON – Just call it a case of ill-gotten food.

A Woodland woman was arrested Monday after Northampton County law enforcement officials linked her with the alleged misuse of a food stamp card.

Tracey Lynee Futrell, 30, of 201 Persimmon Street was placed in the Northampton County Jail under a $5,000 bond on the charge of obtaining property by false pretense.

According to Northampton Sheriff Wardie Vincent, his office received a report on May 5 from the victim of the alleged crime.

Northampton County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Gerri Bowen was assigned the case. Her investigation resulted in discovering $116 had been illegally charged against the balance of the victim’s food stamp card, one issued by the Northampton County Department of Social Services.

Bowen formally charged Futrell with the crime on May 30.
