JACKSON – While highly trained in their field of work, sometimes the best weapon law enforcement officers can use in the performance of their duties is not related to a firearm.

A Woodland man was arrested late Friday on numerous drug charges. His incarceration in the Northampton County Jail, under an $80,000 secured bond, was a direct result of citizen involvement.

Acting on information received from the general public, Detective George Reed, an agent with drug unit of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Michael L. Williams, 28, of Lot 6, Potecasi Mobile Home Park.

According to Northampton County Sheriff Wardie Vincent, his office was able to secure a search warrant based upon the information received from the citizens.

Armed with that warrant, Det. Reed along with Northampton Sheriff’s deputies and the Woodland Police Department searched Williams’ residence. There they discovered 31 hits of crack cocaine, 1.5 grams of power cocaine, 19.6 grams of marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia.

Williams was formally charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sale and deliver cocaine and marijuana as well as felonious possession of cocaine. He was also charged with maintaining a place or dwelling to keep a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

&uot;I’d like to personally thank the people of the Potecasi area for providing the information that led to this arrest,&uot; Vincent said. &uot;This is just the type of assistance we need to help us in our ongoing effort to rid our neighborhoods of drugs.&uot;
