RALEIGH – Senior Lindsey Ward of Conway stole the show at the annual Peace College athletic banquet on April 24.

Ward, a member of the cross country team, walked away with the team’s Most Valuable Runner Award, the Scholar Athlete Award and the Frazier Cup.

Wards Most Valuable Runner award was earned by a stellar performance in the fall. At the end of the cross country season, Ward was named to the second team All-USA South for the second consecutive year.

In September, Ward qualified first at the Methodist College Cross Country Quadrangular meet with a time of 29:49.4 and sixth at the Averett University Cross Country Meet with a time of 23:16.0.

Ward finished the season with a strong performance in the USA South Conference meet with a ninth place finish out of 34 runners and a time of 29:33.1. Ward was also named to the All-Conference Academic Team this spring.

Ward was a shoe-in for the Frazier Cup as she was involved in almost every group on campus while being involved with the cross country team, double majoring and still managing a 3.972 cumulative grade point average.

The Frazier Cup is awarded annually to the student who best exemplified the characteristics of student-athlete.

The senior at Peace was involved in the Student Athlete Awareness Committee, Student Government Association, Intern for Exploris Museum, Alpha Chi President, Spanish Honor Society, Senior Class Vice President, AIGA Student Member, volunteer for Interact, which included working with Hispanic victims of domestic violence, and was on the committee for the building of the new residence hall.
