MURFREESBORO – Imagine a warm, late-spring evening, complete with a gentle breeze as you kick back in your favorite lounge chair or spread a blanket on the cool, green grass.

Now imagine that same evening with the sounds of a symphony.

As an added treat, you don’t have to imagine it’s all offered free of charge because that’s a reality.

The North Carolina Symphony continues its tradition of summer travels across the Tar Heel State when it makes a stop in Murfreesboro at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8. There, the Symphony will set-up under a huge tent on the Center Green of the Chowan College campus.

The public is invited to attend. There is no admission fee.

The concert features music perfect for a summer evening under the stars. It includes works from classical favorites such as Carmen, Phantom of the Opera, Die Meistersinger and more.

Help celebrate the Tar Heel State with Steven Errante’s The Battleship North Carolina March and Terry Mizesko’s tribute to the 2005 U.S. Open entitled, Sketches of Pinehurst.

Resident Conductor William Henry Curry will lead the orchestra.

Chowan’s Center Campus Green is the perfect place to combine the music of the Symphony with the enchantment of the great outdoors. Seating is on the open lawn.

The Campus Green is a warm-weather favorite of everyone who enjoys great music in a relaxed atmosphere. Come early and bring the family and the picnic basket and enjoy the beautiful surroundings as well as the beautiful music.

In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Helms Center.
