MURFREESBORO – A Murfreesboro teenager is facing charges.

Craig Anthony Powell, 18, of 188 Pinetops Circle in Murfreesboro is under a $100,000 secured bond in the Hertford County Jail after having his first court appearance Tuesday.

Powell was charged with attempted first-degree rape after an investigation by the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Mike Stephenson investigated the case and made the arrest with Sgt. Jesse Fennell and Officer Montez Bishop.

He was arrested at 5:46 a.m. Saturday morning.

&uot;I appreciate the work Lt. Stephenson did in this case,&uot; Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan said.
