AHOSKIE – Roanoke-Chowan Publications Publisher Jeff Findley is pleased to announce the addition of David Friedman to the company’s full-time staff.

Friedman, a Murfreesboro resident, joined the staff on a full-time basis late in April as he took over the duties of Circulation Director for the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald and the Gates County Index.

&uot;David has provided us with excellent writing and photography over the years in our sports department,&uot; Findley said. &uot;We are excited that he has decided to bring his skills to the role of Circulation Director.

&uot;I invite our readers to call David with their compliments and concerns,&uot; he continued. &uot;I know they will find a friendly personality and someone who is truly concerned about the needs of our subscribers.&uot;

For his part, Friedman said he was thrilled to join the staff of his hometown newspaper on a more permanent basis.

&uot;Being from Bertie County and having played football at Bertie High School, it is exciting to join the staff of a newspaper that has been a valuable resource to me and my family for years.&uot; Friedman said. &uot;I will endeavor to do my very best to make sure that we are subscriber-friendly and that we always remember to put our readers first.&uot;

Friedman is a 1994 graduate of Bertie High School who played for the Falcons during his prep career. After leaving high school, he became an All-Star at center for the Carolina Grizzlies. The Grizzlies are a semi-professional football team that calls eastern North Carolina home.

After retiring from the playing field, he has continued as an owner/coach of the Grizzlies.

He continued his involvement in sports by working as a part-time Sports Writer/Columnist and photographer for the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald. He will continue his duties as a sports columnist and writer for this publication.

Since moving to the Roanoke-Chowan area as a teenager, Friedman has been involved with numerous organizations. They have included the Roanoke-Chowan Soccer Association, the Gallery Theatre and Lewiston-Woodville Fire and Rescue.

Friedman began his working experience with Fast Track Videos and has since spent time with Blanchard Office Supply and Beasley Enterprises.

&uot;Each job I’ve had over the course of my work life has prepared me in some way for the next one,&uot; Freidman said. &uot;I will draw from each of them as I begin this endeavor.&uot;

The 29-year-old Friedman is the son of Steve and Mary Friedman of Lewiston Woodville.
