AULANDER – A 45-year-old man is behind bars as the result of an investigation by the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office.

Peracel Horton of 120 Teaster Shack Road, Aulander, was arrested Monday evening by Detective Brian Pearce.

The subject was charged with two counts of sexual offense and placed under $150,000 secured bond in the Hertford County Jail. His first appearance was Tuesday.

According to Sheriff Juan Vaughan, Detective Pearce completed an investigation that led him to arrest Horton. Deputy Mack Bradley and Deputy Allen Archer assisted him.

&uot;While I am obviously saddened by the situation, I am pleased with the way our officers conducted the investigation and that they were able to make an arrest in this case,&uot; Vaughan said. &uot;We have zero tolerance for this kind of offense in Hertford County.&uot;
