LASKER – Lawrence Academy continued their domination of the Tarheel Independent Conference here Wednesday night.

Andrew Barber and Chad Simmons combined to pitch a four-hitter as the Warriors knocked off second-place Northeast Academy 10-1 in the TIC baseball finale for the Eagles.

Lawrence opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first inning.

Simmons had an infield single and went to second on an error before moving to third when Gray Harrell reached via an error. Simmons scored on a Dusty Todd RBI-groundout which moved Harrell to third. He then scored on a Judd Whitehead RBI-groundout to give Lawrence a 2-0 lead.

Northeast scored one in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 2-1. Craig Minton singled to left before Tyler Davis reached on an error. Eddie Marriner walked to load the bases and Minton scored on a wild pitch.

The Warriors scored four in the top of the fifth frame.

Simmons, Harrell and Todd walked to load the bases. Simmons and Harrell scored on a Whitehead two-run double to right field. Todd and Whitehead then came around to score on a Daniel Waters two-run single, giving Lawrence a 6-1 lead.

Lawrence added four in the top of the seventh stanza to seal the victory.

Todd led off with a solo-homer to center before Whitehead singled and went to second on a wild pitch. Waters plated Whitehead with an RBI-single to left. Barber then hit a two-run homer to establish the final score.

Barber pitched three innings for the Warriors, allowing one run while Simmons went the final four innings.

Edwards pitched six innings for the Eagles with Drew Pinnix finishing up the final inning.

&uot;Chad came in and shut them down in relief,&uot; first-year Lawrence skipper Robert Kravitz said. &uot;We did a great job of hitting with runners in scoring position. Northeast is a very good squad and we feel fortunate to get out of here with a win.&uot;

The Warriors improved to 9-0 in the TIC while the Eagles finish at 9-3, tied for second place with Ridgecroft School.

Lawrence will host Pungo Christian Academy at 1 p.m. today in a doubleheader.
