AHOSKIE – Does the daily grind of balancing family life with a career have you feeling tense, strained to the last fiber in your body?

If so, drop by and visit Darleen Jones.

Jones, an Ahoskie native, has opened a new business – Body Balance Massage Therapy. Her business is located inside Kut-N-Up in the Memorial Square Shopping Center, 913 East Memorial Drive.

&uot;This type of business is pretty unique to our area,&uot; Jones said. &uot;I invite everyone to come by and try it just once. You’ll be amazed at the results.&uot;

Jones, trained in massage therapy at a Virginia-based school, said stress and tension build-up daily inside a person’s body, thus diminishing their energy. A massage is like an energy booster, reviving a person as well as improving their physical well being and mental awareness.

&uot;The best way I can describe it is total relaxation,&uot; Jones noted. &uot;A proper massage increases the blood circulation in your body as well as relieving stress.&uot;

Jones offers Swedish Massage, a method that involves the use of the hands, forearms or elbows to manipulate the layers of muscles. It’s a full body treatment. Aromatic or unscented oil or lotion is used to facilitate the massage movements. Sessions can range from 30 to 90 minutes.

In addition, Jones uses Hot Stone Therapy. Round, heated stones are used as both massage tools and heating pads, providing deep muscle relaxation.

For the full body experience, Jones also offers salt scrubs and salt glow. Salt scrubs are applied to the hands, feet and back where they exfoliate, cleanse and increase circulation. Salt glow adds a moisturizing agent to the skin.

Add to your body balance experience with a facial. Jones offers mud, seaweed and honey facials, improving the skin through the use of cleansing agents that add tone and minerals.

Body Balance Massage Therapy is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Jones is a 1991 graduate of Hertford County High School. She is married to Mark Jones. The couple has a three-year-old son, Jack.
