WINTON – In an unmistakably mint green block building on the corner of West Brickel and Main, Winton’s Corner Caf\u00E9 is the first of many colorful improvements planned for the town.

Beaconing locals with small town hospitality and a breakfast and lunch menu both hearty and healthy, owners Bob and Karen Rowe are hoping to serve as a catalyst for economic growth.

According to Winton town councilman McCoy Pierce, the town plans to hold its first revitalization committee meeting 7 p.m. Monday, March 21 to discuss future plans to bring additional businesses to the area and improve the town’s curb appeal.

Pierce expressed delight at the new business and said the town was planning to solicit grant money to open a county museum in the old town hall building that was constructed at the turn of the century.

The building was recently been painted and the roof replaced.

&uot;I hope this will spark initiative in others to take part in the revitalization of the downtown area because Winton is a beautiful town with a lot of potential,&uot; said Karen Rowe, surrounded by old black and white photographs of the courthouse and other area/era depicting items.

Operating out of a building that formerly served as the Bank of Winton and later as Futrell’s Grocery, the caf\u00E9 is uniquely renovated to serve traditional breakfast foods, soups and sandwiches, burgers, hotdogs and fries as well as homemade desserts with a small town touch.

Winton’s Corner Caf\u00E9 is located at 601 N. Main Street and officially opened its doors for business on January 10. Hours are from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
