SEABOARD – An eyewitness allowed Northampton County lawmen to quickly solve a crime that occurred Thursday night at a Seaboard business.

Captain Daryl Harmon of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office reported that Reginald Ryland, 32, of Seaboard was arrested and charged with felony breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods following an incident at the Suds City Laundromat.

Ryland was incarcerated at the Northampton County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond. He will make his first court appearance on Monday.

Capt. Harmon said a call was placed to the Northampton County Command Center at 8:41 p.m. on Thursday. Northampton Deputy Mitchell Deloatch responded. Upon arriving at the laundromat, Deloatch observed the front window broken out.

&uot;Deputy Deloatch was approached by an eyewitness who said they saw Reginald Ryland in the area of the laundromat,&uot; Capt. Harmon said. &uot;The eyewitness said they last observed Ryland walking in the direction of the housing project in Seaboard.&uot;

Armed with that knowledge, deputy Deloatch went to the housing project where he located Ryland. The deputy found Ryland in possession of nine t-shirts and a green jacket, all apparently taken from the laundromat. Deloatch also noticed that Ryland’s hand was bleeding.

Deloatch took Ryland into custody without incident.

Harmon was summoned to Seaboard to process the crime scene.

&uot;I commend deputy Deloatch for his rapid response to the scene as well as the professionalism he demonstrated in bringing this case to a quick end,&uot; Harmon stated. &uot;His alertness and attention to detail resulted in a quick arrest and recovery of the stolen items.&uot;
