Terry M. Craddock Jr.

EURE – Terry Melton Craddock Jr., 79, a native of Roper, died February 15, 2005, at Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Va.

Craddock was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II, he was a retired self-employed contractor and a member of Liberty Baptist Church of Suffolk.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Virginia Jones Craddock; six daughters, Anne Timpson of Heber, Utah, Dorothy Greene of Suffolk, Diane Craddock of Walters, Carol Keefe of Ivor, Sandy Atkins of Suffolk and Mary Ellen Britt of Eure; two sons, Donald Craddock of Courtland and Alan Craddock of Whitakers; a sister, Barbara Jean Bradley of Whitakers; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Jean Bradley of Whitakers.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, Va., with the Rev. T.A. Powell and the Rev. David Blevins. Burial will be in the Mobley family cemetery, Williamston.

Samuel Oliver

MURFREESBORO n Samuel Oliver, 80, a native of Hertford County, died February 15, 2005 at Guardian Care Nursing Home.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 23, at Millneck Baptist Church, Como. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.

Seth Harrell

GATESVILLE – Seth Harrell, infant son of Ann and Webster Harrell of Horace Carter Road, was born and died February 14, 2005.

Surviving other than his parents are grandparents, Thomas and Connie Harrell of Suffolk and Zackie and Kathryn Harrell of Gatesville; great-grandparents, Vennie Harrell of Hobbsville, Neva Barrow of Suffolk and Fahey and Rosa Byrum of Edenton.

Services were private.

Elizabeth L. Ralph

CORAPEAKE – Elizabeth Leary Ralph, 91, of Suffolk and formerly of Corapeake, and a native of Chowan County, died February 17, 2005, in Nansemond Pointe Center. She was the widow of William Aubrey Ralph.

Mrs. Ralph was a homemaker. She was a member of Eureka Baptist Church, the Ida K. Brinkley Sunday school class, the WMU and the Young At Heart Senior Citizen’s Group.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Rountree of Hobbsville, Ruth Ann Felton and Mary Winslow, both of Suffolk; a son, Bobby L. Ralph of Suffolk; two sisters, Bonnie Nixon of Hertford and Lottie Ann Hobbs of Sunbury; two brothers, Herbert Leary of Reidsville and Douglas Leary of Wake Forest; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Eureka Baptist Church by the Rev. Cameron Currin. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to the building fund of Eureka Baptist Church, Corapeake, NC 27926.

Thomas James Sr.

NORFOLK, Va. – Thomas James Sr., 89, a native of Windsor, died February 13, 2005, at his residence.

James was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk, and an entrepreneur for more than 50 years of Liberty Cleaners.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara James of Southfield, Mich.; two sisters, Rachael Stokes and Piccola Knowles, both of New York; one brother, John T. James of Chesapeake; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral was conducted Friday at New Calvary Baptist Church, Norfolk. Interment was in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.

Alvin Lee Boone Sr.

SUFFOLK, Va. – Alvin Lee Boone Sr. a native of Gates County, died February 15, 2005, in Obici Memorial Hospital.

Boone was a member of New Olive Branch Baptist Church, Gates Road, Suffolk, where he was a deacon, trustee, and member of the Gospel Choir.

Survivors include his wife, Mollie J. Boone; two daughters, Essie Eure and Peggie A. Seaborn, both of Suffolk; three sons, James Lee Boone of Suffolk, Jimmie D. Boone of Gates and Melvin Lynn Boone of Suffolk; two foster sons, Gene Copeland of Capron and Ronald Porter of Suffolk; four foster daughters, Denice Carney of Suffolk, Carolyn Denson of Courtland, Jackie Marshall of Virginia Beach and Elizabeth Rawls of Suffolk; six sisters, Evelyn Jones of Winton, Odell Boone of Brooklyn, N.Y., Georgia Hicks of Suffolk, Margaret Cross, Janice Boone and Bertha Boone, all of Gates; four brothers, Thomas Boone of Greensboro, Hollis Boone of Hampton, James Cross and Roland Cross of Gates; 30 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in New Olive Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Wilbur Walden. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge.

Minnie L. Craig

WINDSOR n Minnie L. Craig, died February 10, 2005.

A funeral was conducted Wednesday at Tabernacle Pillar of Fire by Elder Gary L. Cordon Sr. Gilliam Funeral Home was in charge.

Survivors include her husband, Albert Lewis Craig Sr.; five children, Albert Lewis Craig Jr. of Greenville, John K. Craig of Oklahoma City, Okla., S. Bond, Cynthia Heckstall and Victor J. Craig, all of Windsor; a brother, Jethro Leary; sisters, Christine Craig, Annie E. Wilson of Windsor, Nancy Robbins of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Sarah Bond of Middletown; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Doris H. Morris

COLERAIN n Doris Holley Morris, died February 11, 2005 at Tarboro Heritage Hospital.

A funeral was conducted Tuesday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Willie J. Best. Burial was in the church cemetery. Gilliam Funeral Home was in charge.

Survivors include three children, Terry B. Morris of the home, Maxine Morris of Cary and Clifton Morris of Albuquerque, New Mexico; five sisters, Sadie Eason of Merry Hill, Juanita Jones of Brooklyn, N.Y., Thelma Pickens of Merry Hill, Addie Watford of Merry Hill and Linda Perry of Colerain; two brothers, George Holley Jr. of Norfolk, Va., and Calvin Leroy Holley of Windsor; and one granddaughter.
