Elma M. Parks

ELIZABETH CITY – Elma Mary Parks, 78, died December 8, 2004.

A funeral was conducted Sunday in Stoney Branch Missionary Baptist Church, Gates. Stallings Funeral Chapel, Gatesville, was in charge.

Annie R. Wilson

WINDSOR – Annie R. Wilson, 88, died December 9, 2004.

A funeral was conducted Monday in Saint Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Windsor. Gilliam Funeral Home was in charge.

John Thompson Jr.

GREENSBORO – John W. Thompson Jr., a native of Aulander, died December 10, 2004, at Wesley Long Hospital. He was the widower of Veronica Thompson.

A funeral was conducted December 13, 2004 at Starmount Presbyterian Church. Interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tara Hall Home for Boys, P.O. Box 955, Georgetown, SC 29442-0955 or Starmount Presbyterian Church, 3501 W. Market St., Greensboro, NC.

Forbis and Dick Funeral Home, North Elm St., Chapel was in charge.

Thompson was vice-president of Thompson-Arthur Paving Company, managing all Virginia operations. He was co-owner and director of Thompson-Arthur Paving Company, managing all Virginia operations and also co-owner and director of Thompson’s Ready- Mix, President of the Virginia Asphalt Association and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Asphalt Association. While in Danville, Mr. Thompson was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church, co-founder of Tuscarora Country Club, a member of the School Board, Director of the Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Danville, serving as chairman of the Finance Committee.

Survivors include his daughter, Susan Thompson Wrazen of Pinehurst; sons, John W. Thompson, III of Greensboro, David B. Thompson of Sophia and Brentley N. Thompson of Liberty; a sister, Melissa Thompson Harrelson of Greensboro; a brother, Robert Walter Thompson of Danville, Va.; one granddaughter; step-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

TyQuan Williams

ROCKY MOUNT -TyQuan Williams, 5, died December 7, 2004.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount. Burial will be in Baker’s Cemetery.

Gracie Flythe

MILWAUKEE – Gracie Woodard Flythe, 94, a native of Northampton County, died December 10, 2004, at Autumn Care of Roanoke Valley in Rich Square. She was the widow of Robert Glenn Flythe Sr.

A graveside service was conducted Sunday in Milwaukee Cemetery by the Rev. Sidney Collins. Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc., Conway, was in charge. The family have requested that anyone wishing to share a memorial gift, please do so to Bethany United Methodist Church, Milwaukee.

Mrs. Flythe was a homemaker, and a member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She had been a quilter with he Milwaukee Quilting Group.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Flythe Bivens of Tyner; one son, Robert Glenn Flythe Jr. of Murfreesboro; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Cecil Hoggard

AULANDER – Cecil &uot;Tack&uot; Hoggard, 80, a native of Bertie County, died December 11, 2004, at his residence.

A funeral was conducted Monday at Garrett Funeral Home by the Rev. Alan Mizelle. Interment was in Aulander Cemetery.

Hoggard was a farmer and a member of Horton’s Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Leona &uot;Polly&uot; Hoggard of Aulander sons, Donald Austin of Aulander, Eugene Hoggard of Conway and Eddie Hoggard of Aulander; one daughter, Frances Bazemore of Windsor; a sister, Daisy Brown of Union; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Janice B. Jones

ROCKY MOUNT – Janice Barnsville Jones, 44, died December 3, 2004.

A visitation was held Monday at H.D. Pope Funeral Home in Rocky Mount. Burial was in Northeastern Cemetery.

Gwendolyn P. Mizelle

COLERAIN – Gwendolyn Pearce Mizelle, 79, of Colerain, NC, died Saturday, December 11, 2004, in Richmond, Va.

Mrs. Mizelle had retired from the Bertie County School System as a school secretary and was a member of Colerain United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her daughters, Judy M. Peterson of Richmond and Brenda M. Brown of Ahoskie; grandchildren, Virginia P. Smith, Elizabeth J. Peterson and Leigh Ann Wise; great-grandchildren, Zachary S. Wise, Catherine L. Wise. Catherine F. Smith and Hannah L. Smith; a sister, Lois P. Horne of Ahoskie, and brothers, James D. Pearce and Stanley E. Pearce, both of Raleigh, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at Hillcrest Cemetery with the Reverend Walter Johnston officiating.

Memorials may be sent to the Colerain Rescue Squad. Garrett Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Mizelle.

Willie Boone Jr.

WOODLAND – Willie L. Boone Jr., 48, died December 13, 2004.

COFIELD – Amelia Delois Early, died December 13, 2004 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
