AHOSKIE – 19-0 does it every time.

The Rams of Ridgecroft School rolled off the first 19 points of the contest here Tuesday night and kept their record spotless during the 2004-2005 campaign with a convincing 76-23 victory over Pungo Christian Academy.

The victory, the Rams’ fourth in as many starts this season, came in the Tarheel Independent Conference opener for both schools.

Four of the Rams’ players scored in the first six minutes of the contest and nine members of the roster contributed points during the night as Ridgecroft played without sophomore shooting sensation Chris Hill, who is sidelined with an injury.

Bryan Britton started the scoring for the Rams as he sandwiched a pair of hoops around a Chris Mizelle bucket to help the Rams get off to a 6-0 advantage.

A hoop by Ian Kinlaw was followed by a pair of shots from the charity stripe off the hands of senior Wes Ward and the lead was extended to 10-0.

Consecutive treys by Mizelle and Drew Jones was followed by a Ward free throw and a bucket by Kinlaw to establish the early 19-0 lead.

With the lead at 18 (25-7), the Rams went on another spurt in the second quarter.

Michael Edwards started the streak with a trey that was followed by a Hill Homewood bucket at the 6:30 mark of the second period.

Britton added back-to-back hoops before Edwards scored a hoop at the 5:00 mark that gave Ridgecroft a 36-7 lead.

The Rams cruised from there, putting four players in double figures as they claimed the victory. Kinlaw and Britton led the club with 12 points each while Homewood added 11 and Ward 10.

&uot;We played hard on defense,&uot; first-year Ridgecroft skipper Elton Winslow said. &uot; The defense keyed us tonight. I also thought we did a good job pushing the ball on offense.

&uot;We were able to rest our starters during the fourth quarter to help us as we travel to Rocky Mount Wednesday,&uot; he added.

The Rams will continue their play inside the TIC on Friday when they travel to Lawrence Academy.
