WINDSOR – Mary J. Speller, 92, died November 15, 2004 at Bertie Memorial Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Landing Baptist Church, Windsor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.

David E. Gilliam

WINDSOR – David H. Gilliam, 55, died November 15, 2004.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Church of God for All People, Windsor. A wake will be conducted at 7-8 p.m. Saturday at Gilliam Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

James R. Forehand Jr.

EDENTON – James Radolph Forehand Jr., 48, a native of Suffolk County, N.Y., died November 18, 2004, in Chowan Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, by the Rev. Chuck Gray and the Rev. Dr. Wayne Proctor.

Forehand was a construction worker.

Survivors include his wife, Nina Rose Forehand; two sons, James Radolph Forehand III and Cody Jackson Forehand, both of Edenton; his mother, Patsy Rountree Forehand of Ahoskie; a sister, Debbie F. Barrett of Raleigh; two brothers, Randy Forehand of Whaleyville, Va., and Tommy Forehand of Hobbsville; and two grandchildren.

Annie L. Brown

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Annie L. Brown, 76, a native of Aulander, died November 15, 2004, in Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth. She was the widow of James Brown Sr.

A funeral was conducted Friday in New Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Milton R. Blount. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Corprew Funeral Home was in charge.

Mrs. Brown was a member of New Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Portsmouth.

Survivors include two daughters, Juanita B. Dudley of Chesapeake and Francyne D. Davis of Virginia Beach; three sons, Pastor James Brown Jr. and Robert L. Brown, both of Portsmouth and Marvin L. Brown of Cary; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Kennith Hind

AHOSKIE – Kennith Hind, died November 17, 2004 at Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel, Ahoskie.

Survivors include four brother, Moody Randolph Jr. and Allen Douglas Randolph, both of Washington, D.C., Percy Lee Randolph of New York City and Raymond Wiggins of Rocky Mount; three sisters, Carolyn Randolph Wright of Bowie, Md., Linda Randolph of Woodbridge, N.J. and Ann Randolph Sampson of Weldon; and his foster parents, Earl and Louise Sharpe of Ahoskie.

Inez Newsome

HAMPTON, Va. – Inez Bowser Newsome, a native of Hertford County, died November 17, 2004 at Sentara Careplex Hospital, Hampton.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. at Philippi Baptist Church by the Rev. Edward Melton. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Ahoskie, is in charge.

Survivors include three sons, Carter Newsome and Rufus Newsome Jr., both of Hampton, Lindsey Newsome of Newport News; three daughters, Celia Dixon and Mildred Askew, both of Newport News, Betty Pierce of Hampton; four stepdaughters, Tullie Melton and Edith Melton, both of Hampton, Clarice West of Portsmouth and Maude Lane of Murfreesboro; numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Magaline Hampton

MAPLETON – Magaline Bishop Hampton, 77, a native of Hertford County, died November 18, 2004 at Guardian Care of Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church Murfreesboro by the Rev. Denise Hardy. Burial will be in New Life Ministries Church Cemetery, Ahoskie. A wake will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. on the day of the service. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.

Survivors include her husband, Bishop James H. Hampton of Mapleton; nine children, Alton Hampton of Newport News, Va., Thomas Hampton of Boston, Mass., the Rev. Timothy Hampton of Chesapeake, Anthony M. Hampton of Virginia Beach, Helen Stanley of Portsmouth, Doris Hoggard of Suffolk, Minister Pat Parker of Murfreesboro, the Rev. Denise Hardy and the Rev. Burnette Tan, both of Ahoskie; two sisters, Estelle Flythe of Mapleton and Bessie Eley, a resident of Guardian Care of Ahoskie; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
