MURFREESBORO – On Friday night, Murfreesboro Police Officer Jeffrie D. Jacobs was patrolling the area when a traffic stop he performed ended in a drug arrest.

Upon stopping the vehicle carrying Michael Scott Lassiter, 22, of 112 Beer Garden Road in Murfreesboro, Jacobs discovered the suspect to be in possession of what he believed to be approximately eight grams of cocaine.

After seizing the substance, Lassiter was placed under arrest and charged with felony possession of cocaine along with one count possession of associated drug paraphernalia and was placed in the Hertford County Jail under a $26,000 secured bond.

&uot;I commend Jacobs for his professionalism in handling the situation and his attention to detail,&uot; said Murfreesboro Police Chief Darrell Rowe. &uot;His motivation to carry out the job is evident in how he handled the circumstances he was faced with. This is a yet another case where the poison that affects us all has been taken off the streets.&uot;

The date for Lassiter’s probable cause hearing is not yet known.
