AHOSKIE – An Ahoskie man is being held under a three-quarter million dollar-plus cash bond stemming from a drug raid here Thursday evening.

Gary Lee Wood, 26 of 111 Lincoln Road, is incarcerated in the Hertford County Jail under a $775,000 bond after several local law enforcement agencies converged on his residence shortly past 7 p.m.

He was charged with trafficking in cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture, sale and deliver cocaine and maintaining a dwelling to store a controlled substance.

Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan said that Wood has a previous arrest record and has served time on prior drug charges.

&uot;I commend the efforts of the officers for taking these drugs off the street and to hold the person charged with allegedly spreading this poison accountable for his actions,&uot; stated Sheriff Vaughan. &uot;This is a statement to our citizens that we are doing everything we can to slow down the sale of drugs in our county.&uot;
