Nella S. Perry

EDENTON – Nella Bayne Sessoms Perry, formerly of River Road, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, in Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

Mrs. Perry was born in Bertie County. She was a member of Colerain Baptist Church.

She was retired as librarian for the town of Colerain. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Patricia Perry of Edenton; and a son, John Britton Perry and wife Judith of Buffalo, N.Y.

A graveside service was held in Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Cline officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Colerain Baptist Church.

Woodrow W. Moore

BRONX, N.Y. – Woodrow Wilson Moore, 86, died Sept. 5, 2004. He was a native of Rich Square.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church, Rich Square. Burial follows in the Moore Family Cemetery, Rich Square.

Smith-Whidbee Funeral Home of Rich Square is in charge of the arrangements.

Geneva W. Watson

LOS ANGELES, Ca. – Geneva Evans Watson, 83, of Los Angeles, Ca., formerly of Garysburg,

died on Saturday, Sept. 4 at Los Angeles Midway Hospital.

A visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 with the funeral service beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Garysburg. Interment will take place following the service in the Chapel Grove Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Garysburg.

Arrangements are being handled by H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids.

Nicholas G. Dunn

MURFREESBORO – Nicholas Gilman Dunn, 95, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

Dunn was born May 28, 1909 in Hertford County. He was a member of Potecasi Baptist Church and a retired farmer.

Survivors include a daughter, Margie D. Matthews of Murfreesboro; two sons, Charles B. Dunn of Milwaukee and James T. Dunn of Woodland; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Potecasi Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Deacon, Rev. Wint Hale Jr. and Rev. Gene Asbell officiating.

Richard Jones

CLINTON, Md. – Richard Jones, 90, died Sept. 7, 2004 at Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Maryland.

Jones was born Aug. 22, 1914 in Hertford County. He was retired from the United States Postal Service and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Frances B. Jones of Clinton, Md. and a sister, Barbara Jones of Henderson.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at Hunter’s Funeral Home Chapel, Ahoskie. Rev. Elton Hall Sr. will officiate.

Hunter’s Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Katrina W. Wilkins

HAMPTON, Va. – Katrina W. Wilkins, 40,.of Hampton, Va. died Sept. 8, 2004.

Wilkins was born Nov. 1, 1963 in Northampton County. She was employed by Newport News Shipyard/Northrop Grumman.

She is survived by her husband, Lonnie Wilkins; a daughter, Marshika Wiggins; a son, Shonta Wiggins, and a grandson, all of Hampton, Va.

Wilkins is also survived by her parents, Annie and Eddie Wiggins of Lewiston; two brothers, Markus Wiggins of Sumter, S.C. and Edwin Wiggins of Hampton, Va.; and two sisters, Veronica Richards of Hampton, Va. and Shavonda Powell of Wake Forest.

Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at Weeping Mary Baptist Church, Lewiston, with Rev. Richard Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Dale L. Hoggard

WINDSOR – Dale Lee Hoggard, 43, of 1033 Bull Hill Road died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004.

Hoggard was born Aug. 20, 1961 in Bertie County. He was employed by Coastal Agrobusiness and was a member of Ross Baptist Church. He was a member of the Askewville Fire Department and a former member of the Bertie County Rescue Squad.

Survivors include his father, Merle Hoggard; mother, Thelma S. Hoggard; two sisters, Joy Hoggard and Deborah H. Dunlow; and four brothers, Donald Hoggard, Darrell Hoggard, Glen Hoggard and Gary Hoggard, all of Windsor.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 at Ross Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Kiker officiating. Interment will be at Ross Baptist Church Cemetery.

Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, is handling the arrangements.

Roosevelt Clemonts

GARYSBURG – Roosevelt Clemonts, 51, of Garysburg died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11 in the Roanoke Rapids Chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12 at Chapel Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Garysburg, with Pastor James Lassiter officiating. Interment will take place in the Chapel Grove Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Garysburg.

H.D. Pope Funeral Home of Roanoke Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Erma Lee Hinton

EDENTON – Mrs. Erma Lee Hinton, 45, of 129 Oakdale Dr., Edenton died Saturday, September 4 at the Chowan Hospital in Edenton.

Erma married Dwaine Craig Bonner. She was a member of the Oxley Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Merry Hill.

She is survived by two sons; Dwaine Craig Hinton, Jr. of Bedford, Virginia and Jeremy Hinton of Edenton; one grandchild; her mother, Doris Rouhlac Bonner of Edenton; four brothers, Earl Jerome Holley of Ahoskie, Robert Bonner, Derast Bonner and Frank Bonner, all of Edenton; and two adopted sisters, Patricia Mayo of Stone Mountain, Ga. and Helen Cooper of Edenton.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 11 at 12 noon at the Oxley Hill Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Vonner Horton with burial in the church cemetery.
