AHOSKIE – The Ridgecroft Rams won in big fashion here Tuesday as they downed the Colts of Albemarle School 11-0.

It was a team effort as nine different players found the back of the net during play.

Senior midfielder Will Jones and junior midfielder William Alexander led all scorers with two goals apiece.

Seniors Hill Homewood and Wes Ward, juniors West Myers and Drew Jones, and sophomores Chris Hill, Bryon Britton, and John Alexander each added one goal in the win.

Those players had some help, mostly in the form of Harrison Revelle.

Revelle, one of the team’s unofficial leaders, led all players with three assists.

The senior midfielder admitted relishing the role of setup man after the match.

&uot;I like to make a good pass&uot; said Revelle, &uot;I enjoy setting up a good give and go and watching the easy goal.&uot;

&uot;Coach stressed us playing a good possession game today,&uot; added Revelle.

&uot;We wanted to make crisp one and two touch passes and work on our short game and I think we did that.&uot;

Also aiding in the scoring was a defense that kept the ball in scoring territory for most of the match.

The defensive shutout was led by senior goalkeeper Ian Kinlaw.

After putting the game out of reach with eight first half goals, head coach Patrick Sensiba told his players not to score and used the rest of the match to improve on some of what he felt were weaker aspects of their game.

&uot;We wanted to work on building from the back, spreading the ball out, getting quick touches and ball possession so we can beat pressure&uot;, said Sensiba.

&uot;Towards the end of the match we established our style of play, which was important after the long layoff we have had&uot; added the coach.

The win improves the Rams record to 3-0-1.

The Rams will travel to Hertford County High Thursday for a 4:30 kickoff and to number one ranked 2A Fayetteville Academy Friday for a 5:00 start.

Sensiba is looking forward to seeing how his squad does against a good Fayetteville squad.

&uot;Fayetteville will be a good test for us, a good gauge for where we are as a team&uot; said the coach.

&uot;It is a good opportunity for us to experience high level soccer, they are big, strong and very skilled.

It should make for a good game.&uot;
