AHOSKIE – Last week, due to the unfortunate closing of the Ahoskie Golden Corral, area residents will have one less restaurant to choose from.

The eatery, which is renowned for its convenient buffet-style, casual dining, has been serving Ahoskie at its 1100 East Memorial Drive location since January 1984.

The reason why the local Golden Corral unexpectedly closed was not divulged by a company spokesperson.

According to Golden Corral Franchise Accountant Anita Green, the property was initially subletted to Scott Wolfe of Winton, who later purchased the rights to the restaurant as a franchise on November 15, 1993.

Green stated that the property changed hands from corporate ownership to private ownership on December 31, 1998, when Howard Brown of Colerain agreed to the purchase.

When Brown was contacted, he commented that no immediate plans were in the works for the building.

Attempts to contact Wolfe were unsuccessful.
