Robert Bazemore

LEWISTON WOODVILLE – Robert Wayland Bazemore, 94, a native of Bertie County, died May 9, 2004,at Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Dr. James Baughn. Burial will be in the Hoggard Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Lewiston Woodville Fire Department.

Bazemore was a retired farmer and merchant. He was a member of St. Francis United Methodist Church. He was also a member of Davie Masonic Lodge #39 A.F.&A.M. and a Navy veteran of WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona Jernigan Bazemore; three stepdaughters, Alice Pittman of Windsor, Virginia Ward and Jean McCain, both of Oriental; two stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Anna M. Swain

COLERAIN – Anna Mae Swain, died May 7, 2004, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday at Zion Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. Nathaniel Thompson. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends and family at the home on Monday and Tuesday from 5 to 9 p.m. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Mrs. Swain was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, Eastern Star, Missionary and Deaconess of Zion Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Jessie Swain III of Durham; three brothers, Ernest Hardy of Merry Hill, Eugene Hardy of Lanham, Md., and Alfred Hardy of Portsmouth, Va.; two sisters, Mildred Bond of Colerain and Mattie Downs of Norfolk; and one grandson.
