Martha E. Dunlow

EMPORIA, Va. – Martha E. Dunlow, 78, died April 1, 2004.

A funeral was conducted Sunday at Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt. Interment was in Greensville Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Dunlow was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and retired from Southampton Textile after more than 30 years of service.

Survivors include her husband, William B. Dunlow; five daughters, Patricia Dunlow Brooks of Emporia, Peggy D. Goddard of Roanoke Rapids, Margaret Elizabeth Dunlow, Mary Ann Dunlow and Pamela Sue Dunlow, all of Emporia; four brothers, Reuben Turner of Garysburg, Jasper Tuner of Gaston, Leslie Turner of Emporia and Bill Turner of Seaboard; two sisters, Ruith Barnard of Roanoke Rapids and Rose Edwards of Seaboard; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Hilda K. Bunch

TYNER – Hilda King Bunch, 75, a native of Gates County, died February 2, 2004, in her home. She was the widow of S.J. Bunch.

A funeral was conducted Sunday at Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Parr and the Rev. John Wilkinson. Burial was in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Edenton, was in charge.

Mrs. Bunch retired from George C. Moore Co. in Edenton, was a member of Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church and its Nina Bateman Sunday school class.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Bunch Eure of Tyner; a son, Allen W. Bunch of Tyner; a sister, Edna K. Bunch of Edenton; a brother, Edsel O. King of Wilmington; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Robert P. English

ZUNI, Va. – Robert Paul English, 57, a native of Jersey Shore, Pa., died April 2, 2004.

Funeral services are private. Harrell and Hill Funeral Home, Suffolk, is in charge.

English was a heavy equipment operator with Local 147 in Norfolk.

Survivors include his wife, Mary R. English; his father and stepmother, Robert N. and Edith English of Virginia Beach; his daughter, Donia J. Rietzel of Hampton; his stepchildren, Dale Jackson of Suffolk and Charlene C. Summerell of Gates; and six grandchildren.

Marie J. Magbe

TYNER – Marie J. Magbe, 96, died April 2, 2004 at Britt Haven Nursing Home, Edenton.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Maggie J. Holley

RALEIGH – Maggie J. Holley died April 1, 2004.

Homegoing was conducted Monday at Martin Street Baptist Church. Haywood Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge.

Mrs. Holley received her early education at Berry O’Kelly High School, obtained a BS in Home Economics from Virginia State College and received a MS in Home Economics from North Carolina Central University. She taught Home Economics at Creecy High School in Rich Square and Mary Potter High School in Oxford, for over 20 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Juanda LaJoyce Holley of Raleigh;

and a grandson.

Rena J. Perry

WINDSOR -Rena Jernigan Perry, 91, a native of Bertie County, died April 2, 2004 in Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie. She was the widow of Lloyd Caswell Perry.

A funeral was conducted Monday at Askewville Assembly of God by the Rev. R.O. Denton Jr. and the Rev. R.O. Denton Sr. Burial was in Edgewood Cemetery. Walker Funeral Home was in charge.

Mrs. Perry was a homemaker and a member of Askewville Assembly of God.

Survivors include two daughters, Lois P. Stewart of Madras, India and Daisy P. Hill of Windsor; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Clamon Brown

POWELLSVILLE – Clamon Brown, 84, a native of Suffolk, Va., died April 3, 2004, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greater Wynn’s Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Thomas Lee. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Brown was a member of Greater Wynn’s Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Esther Lee Brown; two sons, Clamon D. Brown and Lenton Brown, both of Powellsville; one daughter, the Rev. Mary Drake of Powellsville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Lucille Rascoe

WOODLAND – Lucille Rascoe, 86, a native of Hertford County, died April 3, 2004, at Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Eugene Pulley. Burial will be in the Rascoe family cemetery. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

She was a member of Zion Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Leon Callis of Newport News, Va., and William Callis of Woodland; one daughter, Lillian Elaine Callis-Revelle of High Point; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth H. Rountree

GATESVILLE – Elizabeth Horton Rountree, 70, of the 100 block of Hwy. 158 E., died Saturday, March 20, 2004 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Mrs. Rountree was born in Gates County and was the daughter of the late Oscar Lee Horton and Cora Lee Lassiter Horton Twine. The retired admittance clerk in the Emergency Room at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, she was also the former owner and operator of Midway Market. A member of Middle Swamp Baptist Church, her early church years were spent at Cool Spring Baptist Church in Eure.

Preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Rountree, Jr., she is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Ellen and Gene Riddick of Hobbsville, Marie and Jarvis Miller of Hertford and Linda and Max Cox of Gatesville; her brother, Edward L. Horton and wife, Joyce of Winton; six grandchildren, J.H., Scott, and Craig Miller, Carl and Paul Cox, and Leeann Elizabeth Riddick; and three nieces, Susan James, Sandra New-some and Sharon Conner.

Funeral services were held Tuesday,

March 23, 2004 at 2 p.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church. Burial followed in Damascus Christian Church Cemetery, Sunbury. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, was in charge of arrangements. Friends

joined the family at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Re-building Fund of Middle Swamp Baptist Church.
