Jennifer N. Todd

KILL DEVIL HILLS – Jennifer Nichole Todd, 20, a native of Martin County, died March 24, 2004, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral was conducted Sunday at Walker Funeral Home Chapel, Windsor, by the Rev. Jimmy Haywood. Burial was in Edgewood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Jennifer Nichole Todd fund c/o Wanda Stotesbury, 8365 Railroadbed Rd., Pantego, NC 27860.

Miss Todd was a full time student at Chowan College.

Survivors include her mother, Donna Dawson of Maggie Valley; her father, Timothy L. Todd of Kill Devil Hills; sister, Samantha Dawson of Windsor; half sisters, Maggie Jo Dawson, Casey Dawson and Amy Dawson, all of Windsor; and her maternal grandfather, Walter Barnes of Plymouth.

Dennis L. Williams

COURTLAND, Va. – Dennis Lee Williams, 56, a native of Gates County, died March 25, 2004.

A memorial service was conducted Sunday at Courtland Baptist Church by the Rev. Tommy Speight. Wright Funeral Home was in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Courtland Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 148, Courtland, Va. 23837.

Williams was a retired marine designer with J.J. McMullen and Associates. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church, the church choir and the Hatcher Story Sunday School class.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Daughtrey Williams; a daughter, Tonya Williams Turlington of Newport News; two stepsons, Ronald Johnson of Courtland and Brad James Johnson o Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Elizabeth Paige Bland of Charlotte; two brothers, Robert Edward Williams for Seaford and David Paris Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio; two stepsisters, Phyllis More of Gatesville and Kay Rountree of Eure; a stepbrother, Norman Felts of Eure; and four grandchildren.

James L. Byrum Jr.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. – James Lee &uot;Jim&uot; Byrum Jr., 68, a native of Gates County, died March 25, 2004, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

A funeral was conducted Monday at Deep Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Baker and the Rev. Larry Ryals. Burial was in Liberty Springs Christian Church Cemetery. Sturtevant Funeral Home was in charge. Memorial donations may be made to the Union Missions.

Byrum was owner and founder of Dominion Yachts for 34 years and was a member of First Baptist Church, Norfolk.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Y. Byrum; a son, the Rev. Steven W. Byrum, both of Chesapeake; two sisters, Barbara B. Haverty and Betty B. King, both of Suffolk; a brother, Joseph T. Byrum of Prince George County; and three grandchildren.

Samuel Hendricks

LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Samuel Hendricks, 63, a native of Hertford County, died March 23, 2004, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Newsome Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Hendricks family cemetery. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Survivors include three sons, Kevin R. Hendricks, Robert Hendricks and Nicholas Hendricks, all of Norfolk, Va.; three daughters, Jacqueline Yancey of Norfolk, Tracy Guy and Lisa Church, both of Virginia Beach; his father, Felix Phillips of Rich Square; one brother, Thomas Eley of Chesapeake; three sisters, Gladys Stevenson of Murfreesboro, Annie Edwards and Geraldine Mizelle of Ahoskie; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Curtis Deloatch

CONWAY – Curtis Deloatch, 45, a native of Northampton County, died March 26, 2004, at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hunter’s Funeral Home Chapel, Ahoskie. Burial will be in the Deloatch family cemetery.

Deloatch was a member of First Baptist Church, Conway.

Survivors include a son, Terrance Powell of Conway; a daughter, LaKeisha Powell of Conway; his mother, Emma Deloatch of Conway; one brother, Ricky Deloatch of Conway; two sisters, Teresa Deloatch and Sharon Boone, both of Conway; and four grandchildren.

Jesse Phillips

RICH SQUARE – Jesse Phillips, 46, a native of Northampton County, died March 28, 2004, at Autumn Care Nursing Home, Rich Square.

Gracie H. Bracy

AHOSKIE – Gracie V. Hoggard Bracy, died March 27, 2004, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Thursday at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, Ahoskie, by the Rev. H.H. Murrill. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ahoskie. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Mrs. Bracy was a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Tommy Hoggard of Hampton, Va., Floyd and Axem Bracy, both of Ahoskie; two daughters, Estella Riddick of Ahoskie and Evelyn Eley of Baltimore, Md.; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Emanuel James Sr.

COFIELD – Emanuel James Sr., died March 27, 2004, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Philippi Baptist Church by the Rev. William Lassiter. Burial will be in the Flood family cemetery, Cofield. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

James was a member of Philippi Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Verta James; one son, Emanuel James Jr. of Cofield; one daughter, Irene Boone of Greensboro; four brothers, Arthur James and Reginald James, both of Ahoskie, Issac James of Cofield and Richard James of Realto, Calif.; three sisters, Cornella James and Ruth Hough, both of Baltimore, Md., Eunice Buck of Glen Bernie; four grandchildren; and three grandchildren.

Ella Fleetwood

AHOSKIE – Ella Fleetwood, died March 29, 2004, at Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie.
