Pecolia W. Peele

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Pecolia Williams Peele, 72, a native of Roxobel, died March 3, 2004, at her residence.

A funeral was conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at New Bethel Baptist Church by Bishop J.M. Whitaker. Burial was in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Fisher Funeral Home was in charge.

Mrs. Peele retired from General Electric after more than 27 years and also from the Portsmouth school system. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, its Female Usher Ministry No. 2 and Margaret Lomic Missionary Circle.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond W. Peele; three daughters, Anita Riddick, Brendette Haden and Sonya Peele; three sons, Raymond L. Peele, Terry Peele and Darwin Peele; her mother, Hettie Williams; a sister, Geneva White; two brothers, Allen Williams and Ben Williams Jr.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mattie J. Walden

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Mattie J. Walden, 74, a native of Margarettsville, died March 4, 2004, at Maryview Medical Center.

A funeral was conducted Monday in Noble Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Henry P. Jones. Burial was in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Fisher Funeral Home was in charge.

Mrs. Walden was a member of Noble Street Baptist Church and its Female Usher Board.

Survivors include her husband, Willie L. Walden; four sons, retired Lt. Cmdr. Willie A. Walden, Wayne Walden, Frederic Walden and Leslie Walden; a brother, Paul Jordan; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Linda L. Holliday

WOODLAND – Linda Lane Holliday, 54, a native of Northampton County, died March 5, 2004, in Wilmington.

A graveside service was conducted Sunday at Cedar Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. J.N. Baggett and the Rev. Woody Copeland. Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc., Conway, was in charge.

Mrs. Holliday was a homemaker but had worked in Data Entry for Merita Bread Corp. and had been a Nutritionist for a care facility. She attended St. John’s Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Ryan Holliday of Wilmington; one daughter, Shannon Melton of Wytheville, Va.; three brothers, Raleigh Lane of Newport News, Alvin Lane of Murfreesboro and Linwood Lane of Woodland; and two sisters, Levenia Askew of Milwaukee and Myrtle Rawls of Aulander.

Almether B. Hillard

ROCKY MOUNT – Almether B. Hillard, died March 5, 2004, at South Village Nursing Home.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. H.D. Pope Funeral Home is in charge.

Myrtle L. Worrell

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Myrtle Lee Worrell, 76, a native of Corapeake, died March 5, 2004, in MCV in Richmond.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Allen Dooley. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is in charge.

Mrs. Worrell retired from Lipton Tea in Suffolk. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Michael Worrell of Portsmouth; three sisters; a brother; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mildred M. Perry

WINTERVILLE – Mildred Moore Perry, 78, a native of Jamesville community of Martin County, died March 5, 2004. She was the widow of Simon E. Perry Jr.

A funeral was conducted Monday at Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Greenville. Burial was in Highland Memorial Gardens in Ahoskie. Memorials may be made to the Board of Foreign Missions, P.O. Box 39, Ayden, NC 28513.

Mrs. Perry lived most of her adult life in Ahoskie, where she was a member of Creech Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Emily Katherine Perry of the home; two sons, Braxton Earl Perry of Dauphin, Island, AL and Ronald Lee Perry of Mount Airy; a brother, Luther Hugh &uot;Jack&uot; Moore of Jamesville;

three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Sarah B. Riddick

GATESVILLE – Sarah Bonner Riddick, 82, a native of Gates County, died March 5, 2004, at Down East Nursing Home.

A funeral will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lebanon Grove Baptist Church by Rev. Michael Williams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.

Survivors include her husband, Collis Riddick; a daughter, Carolyn Bellamy of Gatesvillle; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Maude Dorsey

WINDSOR – Maude Ethel Tucker Dorsey, a native of Baltimore, Md., died March 1, 2004.

A funeral was conducted Thursday at Indian Woods Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Ralph D. White. Burial was in the church cemetery. Gilliam Funeral Home was in charge.

Mrs. Dorsey retired from John Hopkins Hospital after 43 years of service.

Survivors include a son, George Norman Curry; two great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Hannah B. Wilder

AHOSKIE – Hannah Bunch Wilder, died March 5, 2004, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Landing Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Shelton Barnes. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel, Ahoskie. Burial will be in the Wilder family cemetery, Aulander.

Mrs. Wilder was a member of Cedar Landing Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Wilder Jr. of Pikesville and Conrad R. Wilder of Ahoskie; one daughter, Felicia W. Green of Durham; one sister, Bertha Parker of Ahoskie; and four grandchildren.

Clarine O. Pringle

GARNER – Clarine Outlaw Pringle, a native of Hertford County, died March 7, 2004, at Wake Medical Center, Raleigh.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at New Ahoskie Baptist Church by the Rev. Patrick Young. Burial will be in the Sessoms family cemetery, Powellsville. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

She was a member of New Ahoskie Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Howard Outlaw of Raleigh; two daughters, Clarine and Roxanne Outlaw, both of New Jersey; six sisters, Lelia Allen of Jamaica, N.Y., Sadie Reid of Colerain, Mamie Raynor and Audrey Jordan, both of Powellsville, Elizabeth Pridget of New York City and Joanne Speller of Statesville; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
