Mae B. Anderson

CLINTON, Md. – Mae Willie Britt Anderson, a native of Hertford County, who spent most of her life in Murfreesboro, died February 26, 2004, at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Clinton, Md. She was the widow of Willie &uot;Sack&uot; Boone and Burn Anderson.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Parkas Grove Baptist Church, Murfreesboro.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of Parkas Grove Baptist Church and served on the usher board and sang in the senior choir for a number of years. She was also an active member of the Guiding Star Chapter #600, Order of the Eastern Star. She also attended the public schools of Hertford County.

Survivors include one daughter Annie Willie Vaughan of

Temple Hill; three brothers William, Henry and Joseph; one stepdaughter Annie Clemens, one stepson, Roosevelt Anderson; and stepgrandchildren.

Gilbert Timberlake Sr.

WOODLAND – Gilbert Brown Timberlake Sr., 86, a native of Woodland, died February 29, 2004, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Grove Friends Meeting, Woodland, by the Rev. Robert E. Gosney and the Rev. Heath Lloyd. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Rich Square. Memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Grove Friends Meeting, P.O. Box 482, Woodland, NC 27897 or Hospice of Ahoskie, 521 W. Meyers Street, Ahoskie, NC 27910. Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, is in charge.

Timberlake was a member of Cedar Grove Friends Meeting and co-owner of Woodland Manufacturing Company.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy Skeeter Timberlake; a daughter, Anne Timberlake Shoulars of Raleigh; one son, Gilbert Brown Timberlake Jr. of Woodland; one sister, Frances Timberlake Jordon of Richmond, Va.; one brother, E.L. Timberlake Jr. of Woodland; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Shirley S. Lassiter

WINDSOR – Shirley S. Lassiter, died February 22, 2004, at Bertie Memorial Hospital, Windsor.

A funeral was conducted Saturday at Indian Woods Missionary Baptist Church by Bishop Hurron Freeman. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cherry’s Funeral Home, Windsor, was in charge.

Survivors include a son, Alton Lassiter of Washington; four daughters, Gloria Stephenson of Windsor, Carolynette Peele, Fannie Lassiter and Celestine Lassiter, all of Salisbury; one sister, Celestine Thompson of Windsor; two brothers, Kelvin Smallwood of Orlando, Fla., and Robert Brown of Windsor; and 14 grandchildren.
