CONWAY – A mother and her three sons were arrested near here Sunday morning on a variety of drug charges.

Acting upon citizen complaints and based upon surveillance, Northampton County law enforcement officers from four agencies served a search warrant on the residence of Joyce Daye Sneed, 57, of Lot 9, 170 Springfield Lane, Creekside Mobile Home Park (located between Potecasi and Milwaukee) at approximately 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Agent George Reed of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, Woodland Police Chief Don Ryan, Jackson Police Chief John Young, Conway Police Officer Joe Burgess and Northampton deputies Greg Colson and Wardie P. Vincent Jr. served the warrant and were responsible for searching the premises. &uot;Rico&uot; – a special-trained canine – also assisted in the search.

According to Reed, a search of the residence revealed a plastic bag containing 34 grams of marijuana. Also discovered were a scale, baggies, a crack pipe and, what Reed referred to as, &uot;blunt residue located throughout the residence.&uot;

Sneed was charged with maintaining a dwelling, place or vehicle to keep a controlled substance as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. She was jailed under a $3,000 bond.

Three of her sons were also arrested.

Damien Daye, 20, faces felony marijuana possession charges as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. He was incarcerated under a $6,000 bond.

Brandon Daye, 19, was placed in jail under a $3,000 bond for misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a dwelling, place or vehicle to keep a controlled substance.

Delvin Daye, 34, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and jailed under a $1,000 bond.

In addition, a search was conducted of three vehicles parked in the yard of the residence. Agent Reed reported that 164 grams of crack cocaine and 36 grams of marijuana were discovered in one of those vehicles. Smaller amounts of drugs were found in the other two vehicles. Reed said that charges were pending on the discovery of those drugs.

Also, a sawed-off 20-gauge shotgun was found inside a gym bag in an area behind the residence. Reed stated that the weapon was seized and shipped to the SBI crime lab in Raleigh for a fingerprint test.

Additionally, two walkie-talkie radios, earlier reportedly stolen from Conway Middle School, were found in the residence. Charges are pending.

Reed said the early morning raid proved successful.

&uot;I’d like to pass along my thanks to members of the community for forwarding information to us concerning what appeared to be suspicious activity at this particular residence,&uot; said Reed. &uot;They are very concerned about the safety of their neighborhood and they support our efforts to rid those neighborhoods of anyone involved in illegal drug trafficking.&uot;

Reed was also thankful for the assistance he received from within the law enforcement community.

&uot;I’m very lucky to work in a county where all agencies work so closely together,&uot; he noted. &uot;All I have to do is pick up the phone and they’re always ready to help, no matter the time of the day or night. It takes a team effort to tackle this drug problem and that’s what we have here in Northampton County – a team effort.&uot;
