Four hurt in head-on crash

HARRELLSVILLE – Four people were seriously injured here Tuesday night in a head-on collision.

According to a report filed by North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper S.A. Mize, the wreck occurred just west of Harrellsville on NC 561.

The report indicated that around 9:15 p.m. William Savage, 50, of Quebec Road in Colerain apparently crossed the center line in his 1994 Dodge van and struck a 1999 Oldsmobile head-on.

The Oldsmobile was operated by Robert Daughtry, 46, of Hwy 561, Aulander.

James Savage, 46, of Colerain was a passenger of the van and Peggy Daughtry of Aulander, 45, was a passenger in the Oldsmobile.

All four people were transported to Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

Unconfirmed reports that three of those victims were taken to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville; However, no information was available at press time today.
