A time to give thanks.

Roanoke-Chowan area county and municipal government offices in Bertie, Hertford and Northampton counties will close on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Those needing emergency services during those two days are asked to contact the municipal police department or county sheriff’s office.

Following is a list of the closings for local county and town governments and local banks:

Hertford County Government offices and services: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Bertie County Government offices and services: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Northampton County Government offices and services: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Ahoskie Town Hall: Closed Thursday and Friday. Friday garbage pickup will be on Saturday.

Conway Town Hall: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Jackson Town Hall: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Murfreesboro Town Hall: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Windsor Town Hall: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Winton Town Hall: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Local Banks:

Southern Bank n Closed Thursday.

Wachovia Bank n Closed Thursday.

RBC Centura Bank n Closed Thursday.

State Employees’ Credit Union n Closed Thursday and Friday.

Also note that all local school systems have scheduled a Thanksgiving break on Thursday and Friday. Schools return to normal schedules on Monday, Nov. 28.

The Ahoskie and Jackson offices of the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald will be closed on Thursday. Thursday’s edition of the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald will be printed tonight (Tuesday) and is scheduled for delivery on Wednesday.

The News-Herald’s Ahoskie office reopens at 8 a.m. on Friday.
