Fire destroys Ahoskie barn

AHOSKIE - Fortunately, a barn fire was extinguished before it could spread to a nearby home on North Catherine Street in Ahoskie early Friday afternoon.
Members of the Ahoskie Fire Department and Ahoskie Rural Fire Department rushed to the scene, evident by the heavy smoke that could be seen for miles outside of the town.
Upon arrival, firemen found the blaze contained to a single-story outbuilding. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
No report on the cause of the fire was available as of News-Herald press time Friday night.
