MURFREESBORO - Details were still sketchy as of R-C News-Herald press time on Tuesday night, but it was confirmed that a Murfreesboro man was shot and killed in the late afternoon hours on Tuesday.

Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan told the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald that 27-year-old Johnny Parker Jr. died at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

“We received a call from the hospital at 5:35 p.m. on Tuesday concerning a gunshot victim that was brought to R-CH by private vehicle,” Sheriff Vaughan said.

It is believed the shooting took place on Pinetops Circle in Woodridge Mobile Home Park near Murfreesboro.

Sheriff Vaughan said his investigators immediately went to work on the case. No one had been charged as of 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
