Judge hikes teen’s bond

AULANDER – Over a two-day span, an Aulander teen ran into trouble with, first, a law enforcement officer and, secondly, a judge.
Travaris A. Dail, 16, of 307 North Commerce Street had his bond increased to $125,000 cash after a Wednesday court appearance in front of Judge Alfred Kwasikpui.
According to arresting officer Brian Knowles of the Aulander Police Department, Dail was picked-up on Tuesday, Nov. 3 and charged with felony breaking and entering and felonious larceny. Bond was set at $5,000 secured.
“After his arrest at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, he was bonded out almost immediately,” Officer Knowles said. “He then apparently went back to Aulander where, at around 8:30-8:45 p.m., he sent threatening (cell phone) text messages followed up by verbal threats over the phone to a witness in this case.”
The latter two incidents led Knowles to arrest Dail again, this time on the charge of intimidating a witness. Bond was originally set at $25,000 secured until Judge Kwasikpui increased it to $125,000 cash on Wednesday.
Dail’s original arrest stemmed from an investigation conducted by Knowles into a Sept. 11 crime that involved the break-in and larceny of an Aulander residence. The homeowner reported the crime, adding that various household items were taken.
Knowles said information gathered from witnesses and the recovery of a portion of the items stolen from the residence linked Dail to the crime.

Isn't this the guy that accused a teacher of choking him several months ago. Makes ya' wonder.
