Shooter sought

MARGARETTSVILLE — The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) is on the lookout for three suspects involved in a shooting that left a man injured here.

According to Chief Detective Captain D.M. Harmon, the NCSO received a call in reference to a shooting Tuesday at 10:37 p.m. on Stancell Lane near Margarettsville.

Once officers arrived they found a victim who had been shot.

Harmon said the victim, identified as Anthony Jermaine Gilchrist, 19, was standing near the corner of Stancell Lane and N.C. 186 when a car approached him and shots were fired.

Harmon said Gilchrist was struck twice in the leg area.

The car, described as an older model vehicle that is black or green in color, was last seen heading toward Seaboard on N.C. 186.

Harmon said the vehicle was occupied by three black males. One of the men had an afro hair style, while another suspect was wearing a do-rag. Harmon said the third suspect’s clothing description is unknown.

Gilchrist was airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville for treatment. Harmon said he is listed in critical condition.
