MERRY HILL – Lawrence Academy placed two in double figures as they rolled to a 55-36 win over Northeast Academy here Tuesday night.

Trace Larabee led all scorers with 16 points while senior Chad Whitehead added 10 for the Warriors. Logan Wheeler led Northeast with 12 points.

The Warriors were able to run out to an 18-2 lead in the contest and then held on to that lead throughout the contest as they secured the victory.

Chase Stevens started the game with a hoop for the Warriors, but Northeast came back with a basket by Wheeler. From that point, however, Lawrence rolled off 16 unanswered points.

Cade Larabee started the spurt when he hit a hoop and a triple back-to-back. That was followed by a Patrick Dilday bucket and another Cade Larabee three-pointer. Trace Larabee then sandwiched a pair of hoops around a Whitehead bucket as the Warriors grabbed an 18-2 lead.

Wheeler scored from behind the arc as the first quarter came to a close to get Northeast within 18-5.

The second quarter started out all Warriors as Whitehead scored twice from the charity stripe before Dilday scored on both ends of an Evan Holton hoop to give Lawrence a 28-5 lead.

Cody Fleetwood hit a three-pointer to stop the Lawrence run, but Trace Larabee scored again for the Warriors as they led 30-8. The teams exchanged scores before the half with Lawrence leading by 22 (32-10) at the intermission.

Fleetwood hit the first hoop of the third quarter and sparked a 6-2 Eagles run. Jud Smith and Brad Johnson also scored for Northeast answered only by a Whitehead hoop for Lawrence.

Trace Larabee hit a three-pointer to stop the spurt, but Northeast came back with 10 unanswered points to close the gap to 37-24. Smith and James Pope hit back-to-back three-pointers before Johnson scored and Wheeler hit a pair of free throws.

Lawrence responded with a 6-0 run to close the quarter thanks to a Trace Larabee triple and a hoop and free throw from Dilday. That gave the Warriors a 43-36 lead heading into the final period.

Wheeler started the fourth quarter with a three-pointer that was followed by a Smith free throw, but Lawrence got consecutive hoops from Whitehead and Stevens and two shots from the charity stripe by Holton to take a 49-30 lead.

Northeast never got closer than 18 (54-36) in the final quarter as Lawrence grabbed the conference victory.

In addition to those in double figures, the Warriors got nine points each from Cade Larabee and Dilday. Holton added six while Stevens had four and Hunter Askew added one point.

Northeast received seven from Fleetwood and six each from Johnson and Smith while Pope added five points.
