Murder probe continues

Published Saturday, December 5, 2009

WINTON – The Hertford County Sheriff’s Office is still waiting results of an autopsy on the body of Johnny Parker Jr. of Murfreesboro.

“We are continuing to investigate Mr. Parker’s death while we’re waiting on the results of the autopsy,” Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughan said. “We are moving along in the investigation and still asking that anyone with information on the case to come forward.”

Parker was shot at Woodridge Mobile Home Parker on Pinetops Circle near Murfreesboro in the afternoon hours of November 25. He was transported to Roanoke-Chowan Hospital and died there later in the afternoon.

Since that time, eight residents of Virginia were arrested on November 29 after allegedly shooting into an occupied dwelling at Woodridge in what law enforcement officers have termed a ‘retaliation’ shooting. No one was injured in that shooting.

Anyone who has information about the murder are asked to call the Hertford County Sheriff’s Office at 358-7800 or Hertford County Crimestoppers at 358-7841.
