Chowan University holds successful Blood Drive

MURFREESBORO – Chowan University's Student Government Association sponsored, with the aid of the American Red Cross, another successful Blood Drive as part of CU's Homecoming Week Celebration.

Chowan's SGA, led by president Lance Jenkins, spearheaded the initiative to give the gift of life to countless people in need. American Red Cross representatives were greatly pleased by the turn out.

"Many thanks to the SGA for a very good blood drive," said Georgia Donaldson who serves the Mid-Atlantic Region of American Red Cross. "We had 56 productive units of blood collected."

The event even had 13 first time donors and six double red cell donors that produced 12 units that will be used specifically for trauma patients in desperate need of replenishing their red cell count.

Chowan University students, faculty, staff and community members came out to celebrate their 160th year of Christian education by giving blood donations that can increase the years of all those they reach. Be sure to look for more chances to donate blood coming to the Chowan campus later in the year.
