Reward offered in Nhampton murder

RALEIGH – Governor Roy Cooper announced on Friday that the state is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Shawte Shaniqua Williams, age 24.

On May 2 of last year, Williams was found deceased in a field near the rail crossing at the intersection of US Highway 301 and Macon Price Road in Garysburg. According to investigators, Ms. Williams died from multiple gunshot wounds, including a close-range wound to her temple. It was unknown if Williams was shot and killed at the location where her body was found, or if the murder occurred at another location and the body was moved.

Her body was discovered early that morning by a passing motorist.
