JACKSON – The Northampton County Board of Commissioners appointed people to the county’s Agricultural Advisory Board on May 15. Beth Burchell of the county’s Cooperative Extension Service went before the Board during their regularly scheduled meeting to bring this matter to their attention.

The members of the agricultural advisory board represent different areas, and must be active farmers or farmland owners within the county.

Four current board members whose terms had expired were seeking reappointment. These four were Mike Belch who farms in the Seaboard area, Joe Martin in the Conway area, Ellis Taylor in the Gaston area, and Kay Winn in the Rich Square area.

Gene Bennett, who farms in the Rich Square area, and Tommy Flythe in the Seaboard area sought appointment as new members of the advisory board.

The Board of Commissioners voted to reappoint the four current members and appoint the two new members. The advisory board plans to meet more regularly than in previous years.
