AHOSKIE, NC – Roger Vann Williams, age 80, passed away on April 18, 2016 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Mr. Williams was born in Hertford County, NC, on October 4, 1935, a son of the late Joseph Herman and Marjorie Lassiter Williams. Roger was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, an Air Force veteran, and worked for the US Postal Service in Ahoskie until his retirement.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Joyce Rawls Williams; two sisters, Fannie W. Casper of Ahoskie, NC, and Ann W. Lincoln of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Herman J. Williams of Midland, VA; several nieces and nephews, and a brother in law, Ernest Stanton Rawls of Rich Square, NC.

The family will receive friends at Garrett Sykes Funeral Service of Ahoskie on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 7:00 until 8:30 pm, and other times at the home.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Garrett Sykes Funeral Service of Ahoskie, with Rev. Mickey Woolard officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Rich Square, NC.
