Rotten politicians & filthy murderers

There’s a lot of ground to cover this week, so let’s get down to the nitty-gritty.

They say politics makes for strange bedfellows. That appears to be true as after bashing Donald Trump during the Republican debates as well as all along the campaign trail, now former presidential candidate Chris Christie has endorsed “The Donald” for president.

My opinion on that….one loser backing another!

And while on the subject of politics, how many of the loyal readers of this weekly space are totally annoyed, like me, of all the mud slinging and foul mouth language going on between the remaining GOP candidates, except for Ben Carson? The latter is a great man, but we all know where those guys finish….last!

Where’s the substance in these debates? Instead of addressing the numerous problems facing our nation today, highlighted by runaway debt in the tens of trillions of dollars, these bozos are too busy calling each liars with every sentence they utter.

If someone, anyone, doesn’t wake up and do so very soon, all we’re going to be left with is another four years of a “spend-spend-spend” Democrat in the White House. When are we going to learn that we can’t spend what we don’t have? Politicians (blue and red) can’t keep raiding Social Security and other guaranteed pots of money to fill the void between what funds are available and expenditures.

God help us all if Hillary or Bernie occupies 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

On another noteworthy subject, my heart breaks for 83-year-old Willie Henry Jenkins and his family and friends. Mr. Jenkins was found murdered last week inside his home in Kelford. Three days later a 24-year-old Kelford woman, Samantha Gabriel Demery, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

I’ve heard all the rumors circulating about her motive behind the murder and the method she used to take his life. I refuse to repeat those rumors here…I’ll wait for Bertie Sheriff John Holley to make that part of the case official by releasing that information to the media. But if either rumor is true then I do not believe that Hades will make room for her.

All I’ve heard about Mr. Jenkins is that he was a good man and wouldn’t harm a fly. Why on Earth would someone want to rob a person of that stature of the few remaining years they have on this Earth.

It reminds me so much of the Ruby Baker case. The two-year anniversary of her murder is tomorrow (Wednesday, March 2) and to date there have been no arrests in her death. Miss Ruby was a close friend, and it still bothers me to this day why someone would be so cruel and cold hearted to shoot and kill an 85-year-old woman. Not only did they leave a family suffering, just like in the case of Mr. Jenkins, but that person robbed Miss Ruby of living out her last few years in peace with her family. Her death should have been between her and God…not at the hands of some punk looking to cash in on a few items that were stolen from her home.

Hopefully the Ahoskie Police will finally solve this case. Perhaps the only justice will come if Miss Ruby’s killer shares a prison cell with Samantha Demery and they wind-up taking out their murderous ways on each other.
