AHOSKIE – Reverend Dr. Robert Earl Sessoms, pastor of Roanoke Salem Missionary Baptist Church, transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday, January 29, 2016. He was born to the late Nemo Sessoms and Fannie Wilder Sessoms Wheeler (step-father Issom Wheeler) on October 14, 1947 in Ahoskie, North Carolina.

He was reared in Ahoskie and graduated from Robert L. Vann High School. Reverend Sessoms matriculated at Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, North Carolina where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree. He received a Master of Science Degree from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Mrs. Barbara Price Sessoms of the home; two children, Reverend Steven L. Sessoms, Sr. (deceased) and Mrs. Rhonda S. Spivey (Henri) of Durham, North Carolina; and three grandchildren, Destiny Spivey, Steven Sessoms, Jr. and Ashley Spivey.

Funeral services will be held at Roanoke Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 2757 Cornwallis Road, Garysburg, North Carolina, on Tuesday, February 2nd at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
