AHOSKIE – Peggy Harrell Wheeler, age 71, of Ahoskie, passed away on October 8, 2015 at the Vidant Inpatient Hospice of Greenville, NC.

Peggy was born on July 26, 1944 to the late James Harrell and “Maggie” Broglin Harrell in Bertie County, NC. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of Higher Ground Pentecostal Holiness Church. Peggy loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, which were the apple of her eye. Peggy was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all that knew her.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Wheeler. Sr.; two sisters, Mary Morris and Louise Harrell; and three brothers, James, Billy, and Charles Harrell.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Wheeler Bryant of Ahoskie; her son, John “Johnny” Paul Wheeler Jr. and his wife Lisa of Woodland; three granddaughters, Brandi Rae Bryant of Conway, Olivia Ann Wheeler of Woodland, and Madison Rose Bryant of Conway; two grandsons, Trent Wilson Wheeler of Woodland, and David Wayne Bryant of Conway; and two sisters, Alice Harrell Dortch of Ahoskie, and Reva Harrell Mizelle and her husband Adrian of Elizabeth City.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 10, 2015, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC and other times at the home.

A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2015, at 2:00 pm at the Higher Ground Pentecostal Holiness Church, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Ray Faircloth, Sr. officiating, and burial will follow at Ahoskie Cemetery, Ahoskie, NC.
