WOODLAND – Walter Clifton Miles, 81, a native of Woodland, died Monday, July 20, 2015 after a brief illness.  He had been preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Mary Alice Miles.

He was a Licensed Electrician and a former Town of Woodland Councilman who cared dearly about his community and remained interested in it’s thriving.

Mr. Miles was honorably discharged from the United States Army and was a charter member of the Woodland Volunteer Fire Department, serving for 65 years. His great joy aside from his family was flying and he became a licensed pilot and aircraft owner.

His survivors include a son, Walter Miles, Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Pompano Beach, Florida; a daughter, Jane Miles Paul and husband, Rick, of Concore, Texas; two grandchildren, Jessica Paul and Dustin Paul of Buffalo, New York; and a dear friend, Geri Phelps.

A graveside service for Mr. Miles will be held Saturday, July 25, at 11:00 a.m. in the Town of Woodland Cemetery.
