Iris L. Ramig

AHOSKIE – Iris L. Ramig, 93 years old, passed away on April 27, 2015 at her residence.

Mrs. Ramig was born on March 31, 1922, to the late Sam and Addie Cannady in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of United Methodist Church of New Smyrna Beach, Florida.  Early in her life she worked in the garment industry, managed a personnel office, and also worked as a manager for a dental practice in Columbus, Georgia. Her greatest love, however, were the years she spent as a homemaker and wife with her late husband, Jim Ramig in NewSmyrnaBeach. Iris adored tending to her family, their precious Yorkie, JJ, traveling, and her many friends. Iris was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Nina Stanley, Rita Barker, and brother, Willford Cannady.

Iris is survived by her daughter, Linda Blackburn of Ahoskie, NC, one grandson, Earl “Buddy” Blackburn and wife, Ashley; great grandchildren, Sydney, Andrew, and Piper of Atlanta, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

The family is deeply grateful for the love and care shown to Iris by Dr. Mike Alston and his staff, Ms. Betty Ward, Ms. Louise Sharpe, Ms. Orlanda Reed and the many, many others who were by her side in the later years of her life and whom she loved and adored.

Graveside services will be held at the Veteran’s Gardens, Edgewater Memorial Cemetery, Edgewater, Florida on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service of Ahoskie, NC and Settle-Wilder Funeral Home in New Smyrna Beach, FL are handling arrangements.  Online condolences may be directed to the family by visiting www.garrettsykesfs.com.
