Dr. George E. Clark

CONWAY – Dr. George Earl Clark, 84, retired Conway area Dentist, died November 26, 2014.

A native of Georgia, he lived his early and teenage years in the Methodist Orphanage now known as the Methodist Home for Children in Raleigh, NC where he was educated through High School then went on to graduate from High Point. He joined the United States Army serving in Japan during the Korean War and returned home to attend and graduate from the University of North Carolina Dental School. Dr. Clark married his longtime love, Bettie Stallings of Louisburg, and later settled in Conway to establish a Dental Practice and raise a family.  His memberships included Conway United Methodist Church where he served on the Finance Committee, Board of Trustees, and Executive Council; Conway Ruritan Club, again serving on many of their various committees and boards; and greatly enjoyed his membership in Valley Pine Country Club and its golf course.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Bettie Stallings Clark of their home; two children, Carol Clark Taylor and husband, Mitch, of Conway and William Robert Clark of Old Fort, NC; four grandchildren, Dr. Jessica Taylor Johnson and husband, John Robert, of Conway, James Taylor of Greenville, Jeremy Clark of Greenville, and Shane Clark of Asheville; two great grandchildren, Micaylah Johnson and Damon Johnson of Conway; one sister, Katherine Taylor; one brother, John Clark and wife, June; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will be receiving friends Saturday, November 29, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Bridgers Funeral Home in Conway, NC.  A funeral service for Dr. Clark will be held Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in Conway United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Hill presiding.  Burial will follow in the Town of Conway Cemetery.
